Three kinds of card on this page: ⚖️ Drives today’s call — the seven cards whose readings can change this call · 📊 Counts in the score — the 15 cards whose 17 signals vote in the overall score behind it · ℹ️ Information only — shown for context, never moves the call. Cards without a chip (the practical guides further down) are background reading.

🎯#3 US Bond Yields (10Y)

Interest America pays on its 10-year "government FD"
—
What that REALLY earns after price-rise — shown for context; watch which way it moves
—

Both rates — last 3 months

Think of a US government bond as a fixed deposit (FD) with the US government — the world's biggest money parks there. But if the FD pays 4% while prices rise 4%, your money didn't really grow: the "real" return is what's left after price-rise. Gold pays no interest, so the two compete: when the government FD truly pays well, big money picks it over gold; when it truly pays little or nothing, gold shines. That is why it was long treated as gold's biggest driver — but since 2022 gold has kept rising even with it above 2%, so the level is shown for context only; a falling real yield still helps gold on the day, a rising one weighs on it.

—

📈#4 Inflation Data (US)

CPI (YoY)
—
Core PCE (YoY)
—

CPI = how much everyday prices (food, fuel, rent) in the US rose vs a year ago — 4.2% means last year's $100 basket now costs $104.20. Core PCE = the Fed's preferred measure: same idea, but it leaves out food & fuel (their prices jump around) to show the steady underlying trend.

Last 13 months (year-over-year %)

Inflation above the Fed's 2% target usually supports gold — unless the Fed is raising rates to fight it, which hurts gold instead.

Price above both moving averages signals an uptrend; RSI above 70 flags overbought, below 30 flags oversold.

    📊 Data Sources & Notes

Where every card's numbers come from. Live signals refresh from source on each page load (green LIVE badge); curated signals are researched periodically and stamped with their "AS OF" date. Most cards also carry their own clickable source link — this is the consolidated overview. Every figure is taken from the original publisher (the bureau, regulator, ministry or bank that produced it) wherever that is public, and each curated card has its own re-check schedule, so a newer edition replaces the old one automatically. Last reviewed 19 Oct 2026.

Yahoo Finance (unofficial chart API): gold, silver, crude oil (WTI), US Dollar Index (DXY), USD/INR, Nifty, Sensex, Bitcoin, gold volatility (GVZ), and the GOLDBEES ETF price. FRED (Federal Reserve Economic Data): Fed rate, CPI, Core PCE, US housing, 10-year nominal & real yields, and US jobs (non-farm payrolls + unemployment). The MCX & India-price estimates are computed from COMEX × USD/INR × duty — not a live exchange quote. The world gold price shown is the COMEX front-month; it tracks the official LBMA London gold benchmark within a few dollars — LBMA's own price data is licensed, so we use the free COMEX feed.

Gold Price — Kerala (your local rate)

Live Kerala retail rate scraped from GoodReturns (goodreturns.in/gold-rates/kerala.html) — declared each morning by the AKGSMA merchants' association; this is the "without GST" figure, "with GST" adds 3%, and the 8-gram price is 8 × the 22K per-gram rate. The time-of-day table + next-day bias record are captured automatically 3× a day. If GoodReturns is unreachable it falls back to a COMEX + USD/INR + duty estimate. Jeweller making charges are extra.

IBJA / WGC / Indian press — household gold selling. Nippon AMC factsheet — the GOLDBEES card facts (its live price is from Yahoo). Hindu calendar / Panchang — seasonal buying dates. The India & Tamil Nadu news, Expert Commentary and "If not today, when?" windows draw on the top Indian financial press (Economic Times, Mint, Business Standard, Moneycontrol, Value Research) and a tracked set of Indian finance YouTube channels — Money Pechu, Madurai Veeran, finance.boosan, P R Sundar, Nanayam Vikatan, CA Rachana Ranade, Akshat Shrivastava, Behindwoods Air, Zerodha Varsity, Zero1 by Zerodha and freefincal, plus interviews on IBC Tamil and Makkal Pechu where Anand Srinivasan, P R Sundar, Gold Guru Santhakumar and Jayantilal Challani appear as guests — refreshed by a daily research routine with a clickable citation on every item. Since 19 Oct 2026 each video is summarised from its own YouTube captions (mostly machine-made Tamil captions, so a number is quoted only when it was said clearly) rather than from its title.

Educational reference cards (verified, never scored)

The 🧾 How “Zero Wastage” Really Works card cites the CBIC GST FAQ, BIS, the RBI Gold Metal Loans Directions 2025, the World Gold Council, Reuters/IBJA and the jewellers' own rate and coin pages (re-checked yearly; the rupee rows are recomputed on the live Kerala rate). The Gold ETF Comparison card uses AMC factsheets, AMFI TER disclosures and NSE data (re-checked monthly). The ⚖️ Which Way Should I Buy? route comparison and the 🧾 Gold & the Taxman (India) card use ClearTax, TaxGuru and Tax2win plus the underlying CBDT Instruction 1916, Income-tax Act §69/115BBE/56(2)(x), Finance Act, SEBI and RBI notices — re-verified after each Union Budget. The 🧭 How Much Gold Should You Own? card draws its allocation guidance from World Gold Council strategic-allocation research, Indian adviser commentary (Morningstar's Dhaval Kapadia via Business Standard) and freefincal (M. Pattabiraman) on Sovereign Gold Bond income — re-checked yearly. The practical cards — 💡 What Gold Really Costs You, 💸 Selling Your Gold, 🔍 Don’t Get Cheated at the Counter, 🔐 Where to Keep It and 🏦 Borrow Against Your Gold — carry a clickable source on each row: BIS hallmarking and consumer-protection notices, the banks’ and NBFCs’ own published gold-loan rate pages, and RBI locker and gold-lending rules. The “why is everyone suddenly asking to buy your gold?” explainer on the selling card is built from WGC Gold Demand Trends (India Focus Q2 2026) for recycling and household-pledging figures, the global Gold Demand Trends Q2 2026 for jewellery demand, and the CBIC duty notifications of 12 May 2026 — no feed publishes jeweller advertising spend, so the ad trend itself is explained, never quoted as a tracked number. These are educational only and never affect the buy/sell verdict.

Background cards — gold loans by state & where India's gold comes from (re-checked monthly)

🗺️ Where India's Gold Loans Are: the all-lender state split comes from the credit bureau CRIF High Mark's quarterly How India Lends report (September 2026 edition, data to June 2026) — the same source behind the widely shared "32% in Tamil Nadu" infographic, which used the March 2026 edition. CRIF publishes state percentages, so the rupee amounts are worked out from them. The public-sector-bank-only figures are the government's answer to the Lok Sabha (March 2026); RBI itself keeps no state-wise split of all gold loans. Growth of gold loans at NBFCs is from RBI's monthly sectoral credit data, reported by Business Standard. 🌍 Where India's Gold Comes From: the newest full year (FY 2025-26) is the commerce ministry's own figure, reported by The Pioneer; the newest quarter (April–June 2026) is the think-tank GTRI's analysis of the same data; and the detailed country-by-country table is OEC World (BACI database, calendar 2024 — its newest full breakdown). Import values are kept in US dollars and converted at today's live rupee rate. Both cards are background only and never affect the verdict.

    Automatic robots (no person needed)

Six small programs run on GitHub's servers even when no one's computer is on: the Kerala rate capture (three times a day, which also reads the state-by-state rates), the gold-news headlines (every three hours), the expert-video scan (twice a day), the card-health check (three times a day — it is what paints the banner at the top when something is stale or a data source is not answering), the daily research runner (twice a day — writes the brief, news write-ups, expert views and source checks with the owner's Claude subscription, so the cards stay current with the laptop off) and the release cutter (bumps the footer version about once a week when there is something to release). Each writes only its own data file and commits it, which redeploys the site within a minute.

    Today's Research Brief

Rewritten by an AI research workflow that reads the day's gold news and cites its sources on every run; it carries a freshness note if it ever disagrees with the live verdict stamp above it. The footer visitor counter uses a free counting service; feedback you send goes straight to the maintainer.
